Slip Casting a bowl...

This was my first time creating a slip cast mold. Learned a lot! Used a simple shape, designed in SolidWorks, for the first round, but stay tuned for some more complex, new shapes down the road. I'll add more pictures once I get the piece glazed and fired. Cheers!

Spent a good part of the holidays recreating my brother-in-law's coffee thermos in Solidworks. Presented some challenges, but I got through it. Actually, I need to add a small metal part that I realized I forgot after doing the final render.

Took inspiration from a pair that I always end up using. I left the logo off. Think you know where you'd see these particular pair?

iPhone 5G case...

Took the graphic from the bike pump and tweaked it a little for an iPhone case. This case is for the future 5G, assuming it's the same overall shape as the 4GS. =) Working on a couple other versions as well.

Took what I learned from that great tutorial and made my own pair. Oh, there a few design problems, but I'll take care of those in the next version. These were made using Rhino v5, and rendered in Showcase. As soon as I can pick up a copy of KeyShot, I'll post another render.

Great tutorial on creating a set of headphones in Rhino v5. Check it out here: http://tips.rhino3d.com/. These were then rendered in Autodesk Showcase. I also tried out KeyShot, but since it's only a demo version, it put a pesky watermark on the final render. Looked really good, though.

Purchased this really cool package the other day, or rather I bought some cherry tomatoes that came in a cool package. Anyways, decided it was a great way to practice Solidworks by reconstructing the packaging.

I keep wanting to call them three wheels, since that's all you're seeing in this view. But yes, they'd have six wheels. I'm thinking these belong on a lunar surface. Of course every knobby, six wheel vehicle looks like it should be on a lunar surface in my opinion. Why is that?

This time I'm trying them out in SketchBook Pro. SBP can be a little buggy, especial when starting to rotate the canvas. But, it's nothing like SketchBook Designer, which completely does not work on my system. I wish it did, as I'd love to use the vector drawing feature.

My favorite on this page is the one that has the "cat ears". No surprise there (I have two cats).

Last night I jumped back into Sketchbook Pro. It's been awhile, but I wanted to try out some digital sketching again. I'm using a Wacom, which works pretty good, but I'd love to get my hands on a 21" Cintiq! Cheers.

Stainless steel Bobble in Solidworks.

I was wondering if and when we'd ever see a stainless steel Bobble. So, I decided to make my own. Created in Solidworks with the final layout in Photoshop. You might catch that the threads should be on the inside of the bottle to match the current plastic Bobble. Version 2 will feature that change along with some others.

I saw that there was a job posting for Bosch in Germany, so I thought, "Why not practice drawing some drills." Added color to the one that was my favorite. I like the idea of a thin electric screwdriver for those hard to reach areas.

With my first post on my blog, I decided to put up a couple of my portfolio images to get things rolling. These are some sketches and my professional graphic design work. Why these? Well, I'm hoping to use the blog as a place to post current work and I'd like that to include lots of sketching and thus I'm putting the sketches up. As for the professional work, since I'm doing a contract job for Specialized, it seemed appropriate to put up my old work. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
